Climate change feels like an abstract concept simply phasing past generations who were lucky enough to see the true colours of the corals in the Caribbean, were able to enjoy the far stretched glaciers of the lonely northern hemisphere, and know peacefully that everything would still be there as they took their final breaths.
But what does youth need to understand about climate change?
We need to understand that climate change is not when summers in England are the summers of Jamaica, and we need to understand that climate change is not when Bangladesh is submerged in water, no, climate change is the deadly poisoning of our day to day lives. Our slow degradation of our only means of existence, and the complete and utter destruction of the thing we call our home. Climate change and its impacts should not phase us when we are 50 and already at the point of extinction, but it should phase us now, when there still might be hope for any rehabilitation of our suffering organ. We, and only we, can take this initiative, and being aware and hopefully SPREADING awareness can prevent and remove the causes of this infection in our lovely planet. Be aware, spread awareness, and keep fossil fuels in the ground. Please COP21, we can do this. Love and greetings from the youth.
